Did you know that A4's have them?! I've just been reading about it on another forum...

I've had my car for 18months and I had no idea about it all!

When you get to a certain speed, e.g. 70, on the motorway, press the 'Check' button on the dash and that sets the max speed. If you go over 70, a red MPH sign pops up and it beeps once. Press and hold 'Check' and it cancels the warning - showed by it being greyed out.

Yeah, the 1K Golfs (& therefore A3s) do too... They're newer. I didn't realise that it was a feature on such an 'old' ECU as they were first used in 2001 weren't they? I'm shocked!

Not that I'll ever use it either!

Ive got it on my golf and its the stupidest thing! To set it you have to do the speed you want to set the alarm... so to set it at 100... you have to do 100! [au]

Yeah i only put it on by mistake the odd time. i suppose it could be handy. Some people just arent aware of the speed they are doing.

I use it occasionally on average speed zones - although everyone else seems to nail it through them and by law of averages there'd be no drivers left if the specs cameras seemed to work as well as you might think!!

Lol Dave, that takes me back 10 years to my first car - a ford escort 1.4i. I used to manage 55 in 2nd on a stretch of road near my parents house. Happy days.

I have this feature on my a6. Handy when i lend it to my brother. i know he has a heavy right foot and set it to 60mph. Also has audible beep every 10 secs or so.. Keeps him well away from the 100mph mark (until he works out how to change the set speed that is)
