Hi can any one help I have a Audi a3 year 2000 5 door 1.9 turbo diesel and it keep going in limp mode but stops when I pull over and turn it off and the back on again is this a big (costly ) problem ?
Hi davelincs no lights on dash apart from air bag as the battery was disconnected where would I got to ecu scanning done and what would u say rough price is please
Well audi dealers charge about £80 , I would see if you can find an Independent garage , they will be cheaper, in both scanning the car and repairing it
Yes you'll have to get it scanned to see what the problem is. But my money would be on a turbo overboosting. They can get damaged or clogged and then overboost and it puts the engine into limpmode as a protection
Yeah most likely overboosting. The VAG tdi's are prone to it, including my Golf. I tried many things, in the end it was a dodgy N75 valve..solved the problem straight away. A new valve from VW was about £60, disconnect the old...click in the new and job done, very easy.
I have the old Tdi mk4 golf engine though, the n75 was making a noise and covered in oil for some reason, should have replaced that first but you live and learn.
