Is it me or have these really taken a tumble recently (as has most of the used car market).... Some are going for under 6k in recent weeks - albeit high milers - but that's still got to be a bargain, surely?

They go cheaper than that - high miles aren't a problem with the dirty two either.

The higher Tax bands have shook people up waaaay too much. It's an extra £200 per year - or £16 per month. Hardly breaks the bank does it.

The prices are ridiculous at the mo, was just speaking to someone the other day as i saw one for £4995 - for an S3, someone going to get a bargain!!!

Mileage really isnt an issue on German cars, as we all know they are built to last as long as they are looked after, and S3's are not really the type of car owners tend to neglect are they??

Something doesnt seem right about that ad, for starters have you seen the phone numbers??

2ndly, why put a massive ad with your contact details, if you have already provided them and finally, the spec of the car, just does not justify the cost of that car, its even got the porsche brakes on it!!

I'd say that was a scam, but there are definately some bargain S3's.

As far as i was aware if the car is registered before March 2006 then it wont go from being £210 a year to being £400. So mk4 R32 owners and S3 owners, or anyone with a bigger engine etc, wont be paying the £400 a year. I may be wrong though []

I have always wanted an S3. Mileage isnt normally an issue, but i have seen some real sheds come though here recently that just havent been looked after, so they will just end up being a huge money pit.

It's different for the 210 and 225 models due to their differing C02 outputs and registrations (pre 2001 for some 210/225 models).

Not sure on the 2006 rule though, wasn't the S3 removed from sale in 2003 anyway to make way for the new A3?
