Right then, things were beginning to look up - the walls have been
filled and repainted, the oven is now fully functional, the phone
arrived........looks pretty cool and I was impressed but then problems with the Audi BT kit came along to pee on my bonfire....

It's connected to the Audi Bluetooth but doesn't display the contacts in the DIS. Anyone know why?

You need to download an application to your nokia handest (Nokia Contacts Download) and then sync it with the car kit

No, it's possible. My trusty old 6230i did it without any problems whatsoever. If someone called me their name / number came up, I could use the MFSW to scroll through my contacts on the DIS.

Now, with the new phone, I can't.

I could be wrong but most new mobiles use this symbian technology thingy and I have a feeling that you will need to download the app to be able to sync the phone....... I have a N96 and I had to do that.....

Thanks for the link Katy but I'm still struggling on this one!! I downloaded the 616 contacts application and installed it onto the phone.

I'm clearly doing something wrong because it's not working. [:$]

I am frantically trying to remember where we got all the info from about this. I remeber that when I downloaded the contacts app I then had to go to the car not turn the engine on but turn the key so bluetooth activates then start the app on the phone until it says syncing (this can take a good while) I ended up sitting in the car for quite some time, you will see something come up on the dash display...... I will keep trying to look for any more info. It is a bit of a faff imo

Ok I am sure you may need the 810 contact download instead.... sorry [:$] http://europe.nokia.com/get-support-and-software/product-support/nokia-810/software

Some info that may be of help

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/showthread.php?t=46165&highlight=nokia+contacts

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/search.php?searchid=1325157

http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/search.php?searchid=1325189

And instructions

http://www.parrot.com/documents/en/support/procedure_nokia_810.pdf

Sorry its all a bit misphap, my other half did most of the trawling to find the info and then just told me what to do when I did mine so I hope this will all help a bit more. [Y]

If you still have problems then it may be an issue with what bluetooth module. You may have an the older style BT module which is not compatible with all newer style phones..... The latest one I believe is a Q....what year is your car? I also know that you can part ex your old BT module against getting a new one which would bring the cost down a bit.

Good luck [:D]

Thanks very much Katy. Really appreciate that help.

It's sorted. It's not perfect yet but it's good to know that the contact list will at least appear in the DIS. I'm just having a few issues with regards to how it displays the names. It's showing as surname first, which is bit of a pain for entries like "Dave & Ange C" as it alters it and puts the "&" first, if you know what I mean? Anyway, thats something I can live with.

Again, thanks for the help. [Y]

What do you mean the phone won't download? are you trying to download the app from your phone or are you using a PC and bluetoothing it over to your phone>?

This link should work 810 is the best one to download, with regards to your phone you might need to change some settings maybe to allow it??????? - good luck [Y]

I had an issue with 810 too so I used 616 as Katy originally suggested. That works fine bar the small issue of the order of the names.

Hi k6tyw,

Downloaded onto my PC then tried to load onto the phone through Nokia PC Suite, but the phone just kept saying 'Certificate Error'.

According to some Symbian sites Nokia have yet to make a proper version for the 5800 and other new version S60 phones.

Ok hope I did this the right way:

Downloaded the software.

Made sure the phone was paired with the car.

Then started the program on the phone.

Phone showed processing for ages, whilst processing I tried the MFSW and like Dave the names are there but Surname first, so ended up cancelling program as it was still processing.

Pressed the speech button but 'no numbers held in phone book' although I can roll through the names with the toggle switch?

Does anyone know if this is what is meant to happen?
