Hi,

I'm about to collect my new (well new for me it's an 07 plate) Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI SE Quattro today. I noted when i went out for the test drive the MMI didn't have amongst other things the nice graphic when reverse parking. Im guessing this means its in need of an MMI update. I know you can get the CDs from the dealer (part 4L0 998 961) for the latest version (5570). I understand it's basically a case of doing each CD in turn to apply the updates to all the components. Mine has MMI High with parking sensors, heated seats, dual climate, air suspension, DAB radio, AMi, 6 disk changer, Bluetooth.

Are there any gotchas for doing this myself? I was planning on just sitting there with the engine running and working through each disk.

I understand that post update some things 'disappear' such as the battery meter and require VCDS to re-enable,

So basically if anyone has done an A6/C6 MMI update and had advice, please share! Also if anyone has VCDS and is local to Leicester or nearby and can 'turn on' the missing items post MMI update that would be great too.

Always nervous applying these things!

thanks.

I turned off all the lights and fan, connected a battery charger and put

CD1 in the changer. Setup + return on the MMI buttons and chose SW
Upgrade. I think the first CD brought the main MMI controller up to
version 4xxx. It took about 20 mins, then rebooted then put in CD2 it
did the Handyvob or something like that and was for the bluetooth
again 10 mins and a reboot. CD3 brought the MMI up to the most recent
version 5175 I think but took out the bluetooth. I put CD2 back in and
this time the update took about 40mins, rebooted and everything worked
nicely. There is stuff on the forums about loosing the battery meter
and that did happen too, not so bothered though. I don't have DAB (yet) or the reversing camera. I do now have 3D sat nav and
better bluetooth connectivity! All without having to download a
torrent or get ripped off on eBay :)

I think I paid £5.04 for 4L0 998 961!

Enjoy.
