Washed the car on Sunday and I have to say i'm very impressed with Audi's DPF.

The car had done 300 miles since its last wash and I couldn't believe how clean the exhaust tailpipes were INSIDE. I mean not even a speck of soot whatsoever.

I thought the DPF would just reduce smoke on a TDI, not eliminate it completely.

When booting it at night in my previous TDI's, I was pretty used to seeing a puff of smoke in the headlights of the car travelling behind but with the Audi there's nothing at all.

How expensive are they to replace? wonder what happens when the filter fills?

The filter regenerates when it gets to a pre-determined level so it "shouldn't" need replacing. Some info:

I love that answer to unblock the DPF --- grab it by the neck and take it for a good throttling!
