hi all i have a ongoing oil leak, so had a mechanic look at it he took lots of bits off and found that its the crankshaft seal thats leaking,(when i say leaking a slow leak, meaning when i leave the car overnight you can see like a 2p size oil on the road, thats only because i have the under tray off), as you know to replace that you need to take off the timing belt along with lots of other bits and it is quiet pricey, the mechanic said that it will not cause problems with that oil leak and can wait till your timing belt is due and than change the seal, whats your guys advise

Well ur belt is due at 80k or 4 years.....is the 4 years closer?

If it was my car i wouldnt worry too much about it and i would just regularly top it up....even just once a week....as it sounds like it would only need a tiny amount.

But id also bring forward the timing belt change to say 70k......

thanks for your advise mate, will have to get it done than,is this a ok price?

STOKE AUDI do a cambelt change for £275
qoute from STOKE AUDI,
£425 including labour and VAT that included the cambelt and tensioner and water pump, and the crankshaft seal,
so that works out a extra £150 for the water pump and crankshaft seal

The water pump should always be done at the same time. Its not a bad price, i prefer independant dealers, vw/audi specialists.....
